Dear
Don,
Thank you for the circulars.
Please let Tony Vieira know that former Abbot, Fr. Hildebrand
Greene, died at Mt. St. Benedict on 12 March 2013.
He had had a very long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
The Bartica monastery closed in May 2010 after almost 22 years of
existence (16 December 1988 to 10 May 2010).
The property has been handed over to the Diocese of Georgetown by
deed of gift.
Recent deaths at Mt. St. Benedict include the following:
Bro.
Joseph Perez (former Principal of St. Bede's Vocational School) in May 2012.
Fr.
Hildebrand Greene, (former Abbot) in March 2013.
Fr.
Odo van der Heijdt, (former Prior) in February 2014.
Fr.
Cuthbert van de Sande (former Prior and All Rounder!) in August 2017.
Bro.
Paschal Jordan

Thanks,
Norman,
We are back home. Instead
of biscuits and peanut butter for dinner we decided to go out for our first
night back to no running water or electricity. Four ice cold Dominican Republic lagers and a
large plate of peas and rice and stewed goat later, we are sitting on our
powerless veranda with Maggie’s Korean schoolgirls’ hand-held toy acting as a
“hotspot” while I read and reply to emails by candlelight! Really quite civilized compared to the
situation in Puerto Rico or Dominica.
Keep
well.

Maggie and I return today to cold reality in Anguilla after a
pleasant weekend in Marie-Galante with friends enjoying a little Hurricane
Relief, ie, hot showers, electricity available at a switch, and the internet.
Keep

Hello
there folks.
Got this from Gregory Farfan, I remembered this event, but rather
vaguely, perhaps you all do? Thought it could be of interest to the wider
community of MSB boys.
All the best for 2018 and trust this meets you and yours in good
health and happiness.
Saludos.

Hi

This is a very rare picture of Fidel Castro at Mount St Benedict.
Priscilla sent it to me, I do not have any Mount old boys in this
office computer so please send it around.

How
ironic to read the words in the attached photo versus what he did do in past 58
years in Cuba and now what is happening in Venezuela and other parts of the
world.

Hi
there Ladislao,
In Chichester in the south of England the other day I met
Laurence Scott - a cousin of Rowena Tindall's (née Scott) a lifelong friend of
mine.
Laurence, who was at the MSB seminary in the early sixties, told
me about the Abbey School circulars etc.
I found them on the internet and lo and behold...... see
attachment.
I am no. 4.
How nice to see those photos and to recall all those guys from
the dim distant past.
I must have left the Mount in late 58 or early 59.
Brian Goddard was in touch some years ago when I lived in London
but lost contact when I moved to Brazil.
I took my family to Trinidad in 2000ish but haven't been back
since.
Good work.
Cheers
Chris

Sir
Kazim Abasali & Sir George Mickiewicz,
Now I am back on email, so I am having these conversations with
some brothers there, but they are not on facebook, then we have so much on
facebook, but don't share with our email brothers.
Sir Ladislao & Sir Don kept the emails going with the
circulars, however that is now limited due to el culo in vene, and the
hurricane Irma,
What is happening with our local chapter, any meetings, how are
our brothers doing?
Keeping the fire burning where ever we can.
The club / The Circular / The Local chapter./ Long Live The
Alumni.
Cheers
1944 - 2017.
Glen
(The chapter’s live until there is
fire in the Alumni and die when the alumni decides to give up living, EDITOR)
