Dear Friends,
I would
like to remind you how the photos are codified:
The
first two numbers are the year that the photo was taken.
The next
two letters are the initials of the Oldboy sending in the photo, sometimes if I
remember I write in the photo, Taken by: xxxxxx
When the
photo has my initials LK it is because I researched for the photo, if after the
four numbers there are two letters FB, (facebook) then these have appeared in
facebook and I want you to know it.
I prefer
if you send photos to me at kertesz11@yahoo.com,

Hi Ladislao,
I sent the attached photo to Don who
suggested I send it to you with a note of all the family news for your
newsletter.
He also suggested I enlarge the photo but
that is beyond my capabilities!
I read with sadness about Venezuela and all
the problems you all are having over there and we keep you in our night
prayers.
Sometimes the world is such a sad place but
mostly there are good people in it, so we live in hope that things will
improve!
The children took this photo on Richard’s
86th birthday on August 1st.
He and all the horses around the world
celebrate their birthdays on that day.
Our family and Gillian and Leary went out
for a Chinese meal and then came home to have cake and ice cream as we told him
he is entering his second childhood….as am I!!
I thought I would let you all see how well I
have looked after him during our nearly 60 years of marriage!!
He keeps remarkably well though he did have
four days in Fiona Stanley Hospital for a minor complaint in early July.
We moved in March to a Retirement Village in
Rossmoyne a suburb fairly close to where we were in Mount Pleasant before and
just about in the middle of where our three sons and families live.
The eldest son, Philip, and his family live
two hours away in Stratham, close to Bunbury.
We have thirteen grandchildren who range in
age from 28 to 13 and thank goodness all doing well in their chosen careers or
schools.
Our decision to come to Australia 51 years
ago was a good one as all remain close and only two work up North, one teaching
in Broome and the other on a charter fishing boat off Exmouth.
In fact Bernard (second son) was on a
father/son trip on the boat which was moving from Carnarvon to Exmouth and he
was absent for Richard’s birthday.
They got some amazing fish, including
Bernard hooking a black marlin but he says all this will not last as
ecologically the fish stocks won’t hold out with the amount of fishing going on
up North!
Sad really, but we read all the time that
our oceans are getting fished out.
Richard’s big hobby for the past couple of
years is to build jig saw puzzles.
He sits outside on the back verandah, rain
or shine, and builds them.
He is given them as gifts, circulates them
around a couple other men folk who have the same interests or loans them from
the local Library.
When completed, I take a picture of them and
put them on the computer.
He loves his Time magazine, CNN and BBC to
keep up with world news but does not read all that much.
He still walks most days, goes to Exercises
with a physiotherapist weekly and drives himself to Lifeball (like basketball
for oldies) where he is the only male left standing in both classes and I am
sure these activities keep him fit and well.
We are lucky that the Church is part of the
same complex where we live and a five minute walk away.
We still remain parishioners though of
Applecross Church for Sunday mass where I am on the Formation Committee.
I also am on the Committee of
CyclingWithoutAge which is an organisation having Trishaw bikes to take the
elderly out for rides, and these activities take up quite a bit of my time.
We have a Plenary Council next year here in
Australia, the first for 83 years, and I am also involved in gathering
submissions for that.
That about fills in our news.
Regards to all the old timers who might have
known Richard in his time at Mount….his scouting skills and time there have
stood the test of time well but although a good raconteur in his youth, he has
lost those skills now and prefers to just listen!!
God Bless. Elspeth

Thank you, Mike, for this sad information.
I had already reported on Swami’s death,
some months ago, but apart from him,
No, I had not known about these other
guys passing away, or I would have myself sent out a notification to Ladislao,
Don and Kazim, who are, basically, the ‘Keepers of the MSB books”, as it were.
No doubt about it, my friend, our group is
leaving us quite fast now, and the pace is increasing.
I’m very sorry to hear that Chris (he was my
neighbour in Pointe-a-Pierre, you know), Brent and Zopp have all gone to God
now.
Please join me in prayer for the eternal
rest of their souls. May they rest in peace.
Re. Your boat accident, I’m sorry to hear
that you actually broke your upper right arm when you fell onto the edge of the
boat cockpit.
Must have been very painful indeed, but
you’ve been in pain for the past 9 months, and I’m glad to know you’re
recovering well now.
Keep on working on that arm, ol’ man.
God bless you.

Hi Nigel.
I don’t know if you know but we have lost a few so far this year.
1/ Randal ( Swami ) Galt
2/ Chris Henderson in Canada. Hugh and
Rogers ( Nylon ) brother.
3/ Brent Gonselves, younger
brother to Graeme who married Christopher Knowles ( Pupsy ) sister.
I was not aware but he also passed away
in England In late 2016 / early 20`17
4/ Jeffrey Henderson ( Zopp )
who passed away early last week. I saw Winston Kerry and Ivan Laughlin at the
Funeral today, They are both well.
I trust that you are keeping well. I have
almost fully recovered from a badly broken upper right arm which I sustained at
the end of November last year when I tripped and fell full force on to the edge
of the cockpit of my boat. It was quite an interesting experience I can tell
you.
Keep well.
Mike.

Lord take my hand and guide me gently through today. Father, it's so easy to lose
our enthusiasm for the things we entered into with joy and great expectations,
like our jobs, our careers, our goals, our relationships. It's so easy to lose
our saltiness, our flavor, that we lose our ability to stand out, to stand up
and make a difference. Strengthen our faith today O God that we may not lose
our fervor for you, or our desire to be the difference that is needed in our
families, our communities, our country. And when this day ends O God, welcome
us back into your presence where your light and love never fades.
